Abstract: Electric motors are the most important power-providing devices in industrial production, and this power is generated from the consumption of electrical energy. In today's society, which advocates building a conservation-oriented society, energy conservation has become an indispensable part of production and daily life. This requires us to use the least amount of electrical energy to provide the most reliable power to the motor. In this regard, the frequency converter plays a very important role. Keywords: frequency converter; energy saving; automatic control 1 Frequency Converter Frequency converters, which originated in the 1960s, have seen significant performance improvements with the advent of high-power transistors and the rapid development of integrated circuits. Because frequency converters possess the ability to achieve constant torque and constant power stepless speed regulation of asynchronous motors, they offer advantages such as a wide speed range, good smoothness, relatively rigid mechanical characteristics, and significant energy-saving effects. These advantages also facilitate automatic control, leading to their increasingly widespread application, essentially covering all fields. Frequency converters can be categorized into three main types based on their structure: 1.1 AC-AC Frequency Conversion This type uses two sets of inverters connected in anti-parallel, as shown in Figure 1. Since AC-AC frequency converters use direct frequency conversion, there are fewer intermediate processes, resulting in higher efficiency. However, there are more intermediate switching devices, and the frequency output can only be lower than the grid frequency, thus limiting its speed range and making it suitable only for large-capacity, low-speed speed regulation systems.
