Design of the winding control system for FDY spinning machine

Abstract : To address the issue of spare parts shortages in imported equipment, a winding control system for an FDY spinning machine was designed. This system, consisting of a frequency converter, PLC, and display screen, solves key problems such as constant linear speed and tension control during the winding process, and reliable automatic spindle switching. It can be used for the retrofitting of Toray FDY spinning machines from Japan. Keywords : Frequency converter, PLC, FDY, winding. Spare parts for imported winding equipment are expensive, and some parts are discontinued and unavailable. Toray FDY spinning machines from Japan face this problem. Therefore, a winding control system for an FDY spinning machine was designed for the retrofitting of Toray FDY spinning machines from Japan. This system, consisting of a frequency converter, PLC, and display screen, solves key problems such as constant linear speed and tension control during the winding process, and reliable automatic spindle switching. 1. Equipment Overview The FDY spinning machine is a fixed-length, high-speed, fully drawn and wound chemical fiber machine. The entire machine consists of a guiding section and a winding section. The winding section requires constant linear speed and constant tension winding. Two frequency converters control the spindles for winding. A photoelectric sensor for speed detection is installed on the driven friction roller as a feedback signal for the linear speed. Figure 1 shows the system structure diagram. To maintain constant tension, the linear speed must be kept constant, with an operating linear speed of 4200 m/min. The accuracy requirement for the linear speed is below 0.1%. The equipment must automatically switch spindles and perform winding operations during operation.
