Abstract : A frequency converter is used in the walking control system of a bucket wheel stacker-reclaimer for variable frequency speed regulation. The entire machine operates smoothly and without vibration, improving the overall structural safety and reliability, extending the service life of the main components of the walking reducer, reducing the failure and maintenance rate, and greatly improving the system's control level. Introduction Bucket wheel stacker-reclaimers are large-scale bulk material handling equipment. Their trolley travel mechanism was previously driven by a double-speed motor, with a working speed of 7 m/min and a shunting speed of 30 m/min. The double-speed motor is a 4/16-pole motor with a Y/YY wiring configuration. The speed of the double-speed motor is changed by altering the stator winding wiring to change the number of pole pairs. Changing the number of pole pairs is controlled by different contactors, resulting in complex control circuitry. Because bucket wheel stacker-reclaimers are large pieces of equipment, their travel mechanism drive trolleys are configured with 4, 6, or even 10 drives depending on the machine model and the wheel load. During operation, the inertia is large, and when the trolley starts, stops, or changes speed, the entire machine vibrates significantly, affecting the structural safety of the machine and the service life of the main components of the travel reducer. The failure rate is high, requiring frequent inspection and maintenance. For details, please click: Variable Frequency Speed Control in Bucket Wheel Stacker-Reclaimer
