Abstract : This paper introduces the structure and working principle of a fluidized bed dryer, and the effects achieved after its improvement. The drying process is an important step in the production of solid Chinese medicine preparations, directly affecting various quality indicators of the medicines and serving as a key quality control step in the pharmaceutical production process. Different dosage forms and specifications require different drying equipment based on their characteristics. The FG-200 fluidized bed dryer was used for the drying of water-soaked pills and water-honey pills. After more than a year of use, the equipment was found to have the following characteristics: ① Particularly suitable for drying small Chinese medicine pills with a diameter of less than 4mm. ② The material is heated evenly, the drying time is short, there is no clumping or cracking, and the pill shape is well maintained. ③ The disintegration time of the dried pills has a high pass rate (over 98%), without damaging the effective components of the medicine. ④ Most parts in direct contact with the medicine are circular structures, with no dead corners, easy to clean, and meet GMP requirements. ⑤ A human-machine interface is used, with visual and graphical operation control, facilitating operation. Due to the continuous expansion of product production scale, the existing drying equipment can no longer meet the growing production needs. Adding equipment to the existing production site would require a large-scale renovation of the production site, with a long construction period and the need for production shutdown, which would significantly impact production. Therefore, based on the equipment's structural principles, some improvements were made to the equipment, resulting in a significant increase in its capacity and further enhancing its adaptability to different product specifications. I. Structure and Working Principle As shown in Figure 1, the fluidized bed dryer consists of an induced draft fan, a bag filter, a sub-high-efficiency filter, a heating cabinet, the main unit, and an electrical control system. The induced draft fan is a 30kW centrifugal fan with an air volume of 5690～6973m³/h and an air pressure of 3857～8148Pa, controlled by a frequency converter. A steam radiator is used as the heating element. The control system consists of a touch screen, a PLC, and related solenoid valves. The equipment's operating parameters are set and real-time monitoring data is displayed through the touch screen.
