Abstract: A frequency converter is a new type of AC motor speed controller used in the retrofitting of old gantry planers. It features high control precision, stable operation, and high reliability. Keywords : Frequency converter, Programmable Logic Controller, Gantry Planer 1 Overview The A.G.M. speed control system of gantry planers has the disadvantages of large footprint, serious noise pollution, and significant energy waste due to AC motors driving generators. From a working perspective, the power of DC motors is not fully utilized, and maintenance is difficult. From the 1970s to the present, a very small number of systems have adopted thyristor-DC motor units (VM speed control systems). This system suffers from high losses at low speeds, low power factor, and serious pollution to the power grid, while still using DC motors, and the problem of difficult maintenance remains unsolved. With the advancement of technology, the rapid development of power electronics and microelectronics technologies, as well as the improvement of vector control technology, variable frequency speed control technology has advanced rapidly, and its application space has become increasingly broad, involving many fields. The application of AC variable frequency speed control technology has led to the development of gantry planer drive methods towards variable frequency speed control, and our factory's successful application is a case in point. 2.
