Development and application of DC-type dedicated uninterruptible power supplies for frequency converters

Abstract: A high-power uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for inverters was developed to address the problem of downtime caused by power grid interference during inverter applications. Practical application shows that the UPS can achieve its intended design functions and achieve good results, making it suitable for large-scale application in key equipment using inverters. Keywords : Inverter, Uninterruptible power supply, Development, Application 0 Introduction In 2004, a coal-water slurry power plant experienced a short-circuit trip in its power supply, causing the inverter responsible for supplying coal-water slurry fuel to the boiler to shut down due to undervoltage. This resulted in the shutdown of the operating unit and significant economic losses for the company. In China, due to the instability of the power grid, voltage surges, voltage waveform distortion, and even power outages sometimes occur, often causing unstable load operation and, in severe cases, damage to electrical equipment, leading to incalculable consequences. As a power protection system that replaces and improves power quality, dedicated uninterruptible power supplies for inverters have received considerable attention in fields with stringent power supply requirements, such as power, steel, building materials, and information technology. The requirements for dedicated uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for frequency converters have evolved from simply providing backup power to providing high-quality power assurance and management. Therefore, these enterprises urgently need dedicated UPSs for frequency converters. In response to the above issues and technical challenges raised by some departments, we have specifically developed a dedicated UPS for frequency converters, aiming to achieve the advanced level of overall performance indicators among domestic products. [b]1 Key Development Process of the Product 1.1 Solution Comparison[/b] A comparison of various solutions for a three-phase 150kW, 380VAC frequency converter is shown in Table 1. Based on the actual situation of the enterprise, we ultimately selected the DC power supply solution.
