Abstract : This paper introduces the market situation and current status of frequency converters (VDC) technology. It details the application of technologies such as multilevel series-connected units, power buses, microcomputer control and artificial intelligence, fully digital fiber optic control, standardized modular power units, and intelligent IGBT drive circuits in VDCs. The paper concludes by outlining the development directions of various technologies applied to VDCs. AC variable frequency speed control technology has been developing for several decades. AC speed control systems composed of low-voltage VDCs have continuously improved their performance due to technological innovation, challenging DC speed control systems in the field of electrical drives and gaining widespread application. Currently, VDC technology is mature in developed countries, and with the continuous emergence of new power electronic devices, new VDC technologies are constantly being developed, leading to its wider application. The rapid development of frequency converter technology is based on the innovation of power electronics technology, the development of power electronic devices and materials, and the improvement of device manufacturing processes. In particular, the successful development of high-voltage, high-capacity insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) and integrated gate commutated thyristors (IGCTs) has enabled the rapid development of high-power frequency converter technology, with increasingly improved performance. Currently, there are many new frequency converter brands on the market, each with its own strengths. Analysis reveals that these frequency converters share many common characteristics.
