Abstract : This paper presents a novel energy-saving and consumption-reducing technology solution for sugar production lines, utilizing WB series frequency converters, WVP series phase advancers, and WYQ series liquid resistance starters in combination, tailored to the technological characteristics of sugar production equipment. Solution Overview: 1) The WYQ series liquid resistance starter is used as the starting device for the tearing machine, and the WVP series phase advancer is used as the compensation device. These two devices are widely used in mills, crushers, and other equipment in high-energy-consuming industries such as cement, building materials, and steel in China due to their high cost-effectiveness among current domestic wound-rotor asynchronous motor starters and compensation devices. The WYQ series liquid resistance starter employs unique liquid resistance automatic control technology, making it particularly suitable for heavy-load starting of wound-rotor asynchronous motors. It can achieve soft starting, controlling the starting current below 1.3 Ie, resulting in a smooth starting process. To apply this technology to the shredder, a special electrolyte formula for the shredder was successfully configured according to its unique process requirements. This successfully achieved soft starting of the shredder, controlling the starting current below 1.31 ohms and ensuring a smooth starting process, thus solving the problem of heavy-load starting of the shredder. The WVP series phase advancers are compensation devices specifically developed for variable loads. They employ closed-loop control principles, AC-AC frequency conversion technology, and thyristor control technology to automatically monitor and track changes in sugarcane supply. They quickly adjust the compensation amount based on these changes, ensuring the compensation effect remains at an ideal state, successfully solving the compensation problem of the shredder. 2) The press's electrical system consists of an electrical control cabinet and a frequency converter cabinet. The press speed is adjusted by changing the power supply frequency. The frequency converter cabinet uses a WBT series vector-type high-power frequency converter and is equipped with an AC reactor, which effectively suppresses the impact of harmonics on the power grid and protects the frequency converter from power grid surge voltage. To ensure system safety and reliability, one electrical control cabinet and one frequency converter cabinet are provided as backups. If the frequency converter cabinet malfunctions or exhibits abnormal behavior, the system can be switched to the backup frequency converter cabinet via a switching circuit, allowing the press to continue production. Based on the current situation of sugar manufacturing enterprises in China, the frequency converter cabinet offers the following three control modes, which users can choose according to their actual needs: ① Manual control: Manual adjustment of the frequency converter's set frequency based on experience to improve the extraction rate. ② Constant current fully automatic control: A Hall sensor detects the actual current of the motor, serving as the feedback signal for the frequency converter. When the sugarcane layer is too thick, the motor current increases, increasing the motor speed to press the sugarcane layer more quickly; when the sugarcane layer is too thin, the motor current decreases, decreasing the motor speed to ensure thorough pressing. ③ Nuclear scale signal feedback fully automatic control: A nuclear scale measures the amount of sugarcane and feeds the signal back to the frequency converter. A large nuclear scale signal indicates a thick sugarcane layer, increasing the motor speed; a small nuclear scale signal indicates a thin sugarcane layer, decreasing the motor speed.
