The penetration of numerical control (NC) technology into the traditional machinery manufacturing industry has produced mechatronic products: CNC machine tools. This article introduces the current status of NC technology at home and abroad, including the adoption of open architecture, the improvement of high precision, high speed and high efficiency functions, software digital servo technology and network system development. Then, it introduces the development trend of NC technology in integration, networking, intelligence and digitalization. In order to develop my country's NC industry, this article proposes some countermeasures to focus on system matching, reliability, innovation and service. CNC machine tools are mechatronic products formed by the penetration of new technologies represented by CNC systems into the traditional machinery manufacturing industry; its technology covers many fields: (1) mechanical manufacturing technology; (2) information processing, processing and transmission technology; (3) automatic control technology; (4) servo drive technology; (5) sensor technology; (6) software technology, etc. The penetration of computers into the traditional machinery manufacturing industry has completely changed the manufacturing industry. The manufacturing industry has not only become a symbol of industrialization, but also, due to the penetration of information technology, the manufacturing industry has a broad space for development like a sunrise industry. Current Status of NC Technology at Home and Abroad 1. The Development of Open Architectures Numerical control (NC) technology has a history of 50 years since its invention. Based on the development of electronic devices, it can be divided into five stages: vacuum tube NC, transistor NC, small-scale NC, minicomputer NC, and microprocessor NC. From the perspective of system architecture, it can be divided into hard NC systems composed of hardware and wiring, and CNC systems composed of computer hardware and software, the latter also known as soft NC systems. From the perspective of servo and control methods, it can be divided into open-loop systems driven by stepper motors and closed-loop systems driven by servo motors.
