Standardized design of the mounting interface between variable frequency motor and encoder

Abstract : The mounting interface of the encoder was standardized, ensuring that encoders of the same model can be used on motors of different sizes with the same mounting interface. This solves the problem of the numerous encoder interfaces that caused inconvenience in design and production. The design of the outer cover, connecting plate, connector, and bushing of this mounting interface is analyzed in detail. Keywords : Interface device; Variable frequency motor; Encoder 0 Introduction With the rapid development of variable frequency technology, the application of variable frequency motors is becoming increasingly widespread. To control variable frequency motors more accurately, rotary encoders can be used to detect the angle, position, and acceleration of the motor rotor. Because users select different control systems, the specifications and models of the encoders used with the motors also vary, and the encoder mounting interfaces are also different, which brings great difficulties to design and production. After years of improvement, the China Yangtze River Shipping Group Motor Factory has basically achieved the standardized design of encoder mounting interfaces, enabling the motors and their accessories to achieve modular production to a certain extent, enhancing the universality and interchangeability of parts. This article provides a brief introduction to the standardized design of encoder interfaces. 1 Characteristics of Standardized Interfaces Traditional interfaces are basically a one-to-one correspondence between the motor model and the encoder, which is very unfavorable for production organization and prone to errors. The standardized encoder mounting interface design introduced in this article has the following characteristics: ① All motors using the same encoder model will have the same mounting interface, and the interface size is independent of the motor model; ② The motor part can be manufactured according to standard modules, requiring only one standard interface to be reserved.
