Abstract : This article introduces the basic structure, working principle, and characteristics of a permanent magnet low-speed linear synchronous motor; analyzes the issues to be considered when designing the motor width; and provides calculation formulas for some parameters of this type of motor, such as the mover leakage permeability, quadrature-axis armature reaction reactance, and direct-axis armature reaction reactance. Keywords : Permanent magnet motor; Synchronous motor; Linear motor; Low-speed operation 1 Introduction Generally, the mover running speed uR and the stator traveling magnetic field speed u in a linear synchronous motor are in the same direction and have the same magnitude, which is 2rf. To reduce the mover speed, it can be achieved by reducing the stator power supply, frequency f, and motor pole pitch r. Changing f requires a dedicated power supply, and r cannot be too small, so achieving low-speed operation is difficult. If a low-speed linear synchronous motor is used, without changing r and f, the mover speed can be reduced to f, and the mover tooth spacing tR can be smaller than the pole pitch r, thus achieving the purpose of reducing the mover running speed. In addition, this type of motor has some advantages: the current change is small during starting and reversing; it can start, stop, and reverse quickly; and it has a certain self-locking capability when stopped. This article discusses the factors affecting motor speed and the calculation methods for some parameters, which is of certain significance for motor design, performance calculation, and analysis. 2 Structure and Working Principle The permanent magnet low-speed linear synchronous motor is an AC low-speed linear synchronous motor. Its basic structure is shown in Figure 1. For more details, please click: Research on Permanent Magnet Low-Speed Linear Synchronous Motor
