Abstract : The key to typical industrial washing machine applications lies in smooth torque during low-speed washing and high rotational speed during spin-drying. Siemens' new generation vector inverter, the MM440, achieves high starting torque and rapid dynamic response at low speeds. Keywords : Inverter; Vector control 1 System Configuration This system uses a Siemens MM440 7.5KW 380V inverter, a 7.5KW 230V 3-phase industrial motor with a built-in PTC temperature sensor, and a washing machine control system (control system diagram omitted). 2 System Function Description As shown in the diagram, the washing cycle starts at 5Hz and runs at 150Hz during the washing process. The drive unit controls the system's start/stop, forward/reverse rotation, fixed frequency setting, and acceleration/deceleration time via digital input. This system can flexibly set eight fixed frequencies and two ramp rise/fall times. One is used for the washing cycle, and the other for the spin-drying cycle. In addition, analog inputs are used as supplementary setpoints in this system, superimposed on fixed frequency settings to meet special washing requirements, such as those for washing silk. The relay output signal on the device is used for display when the output setpoint is reached or a fault occurs. Furthermore, the motor in this system has a built-in PTC temperature detector. The PTC is directly connected to the inverter; when the motor overheats, the device stops outputting and generates an alarm signal. 3. User Benefits of Using Variable Frequency Drives Variable frequency drives reduce mechanical and electrical noise. SVC vector control reduces system maintenance and improves washing quality. Optimized washing speed reduces power loss. Reduced mechanical stress on rotating parts increases system lifespan. Inverter speed can be set and monitored via a human-machine interface.
