Abstract : Traditional oil pumping unit systems suffer from poor controllability and low efficiency. This paper studies a linear brushless motor to replace the traditional rotary motor, analyzes its motor body and drive, and develops a specific model and drive system. Keywords : Oil pumping unit; Linear motor; Drive control Currently, traditional oil pumping units in China use rotary motors as the power source. Through intermediate links such as reducers and four-bar linkages, the rotational motion of the motor is converted into the linear motion of the sucker rod, resulting in poor system controllability and low efficiency. This paper develops an electromagnetic oil pumping unit that uses electromagnetic force to linearly drive the sucker rod to reciprocate up and down, eliminating the need for a rotary motor, reducer, and four-bar linkage. This electromagnetic oil pumping unit has advantages such as simpler structure, higher efficiency, and lower cost. This paper designs a cylindrical nine-phase brushless DC linear motor and designs a driver and controller for the motor. 1. Structure and Working Principle of a Nine-Phase Linear Motor The electromagnetic pumping unit adopts a modular design. By increasing or decreasing the number of magnets, the maximum stroke of the electromagnetic pumping unit can be easily adjusted. The stroke rate can be easily adjusted by controlling the speed of the pumping unit's up and down strokes. This design perfectly aligns with the trend of pumping units developing towards longer strokes and lower stroke rates. The load variation of the pumping unit is relatively complex; Figure 1 is a simplified power diagram. It illustrates the variation of the suspension point load with the stroke position. From motor theory, it is known that the thrust F of the electromagnetic pumping unit is proportional to the coil current. Therefore, the thrust of the pumping unit can be controlled by adjusting the magnitude of the current in the coil at the corresponding stroke position.
