Abstract : This paper summarizes the composition and defects of the original water supply control system in the living area of ​​Zhongzhou Aluminum Plant, and discusses the replacement of the original control system with variable frequency speed regulation. The transformation demonstrates that the variable frequency speed regulation system has significant energy-saving effects, and the transformation scheme is feasible. It is well known that AC motor-driven fans and pumps account for approximately 50% of the total industrial electricity consumption. If AC variable frequency speed regulation technology is used for transformation, electricity can be saved by 20% to 50%, resulting in considerable energy savings. The electrical transformation of the pressure control of water supply pumps for tap water and industrial water is a prime example. Compared with traditional constant speed pump water supply systems, high-level water tank water supply systems, and pressure tank water supply systems, variable frequency speed regulation constant pressure water supply systems offer advantages such as high water quality, high flexibility, low power consumption, balanced motor starting and braking, no water hammer effect, small footprint, and low raw material consumption. Recently, our plant carried out variable frequency speed regulation constant pressure water supply system transformation in the living area, achieving good economic and social benefits. 1. Composition of the Original Water Supply System The original water supply system consisted of 5 motorized pumps, gate valves, and some necessary pipelines. All 5 motors were 45kW. Normally, 3 pumps were running, and when the water pressure was low, 1 more was activated, with the remaining pump serving as a standby. Previously, the pump switching and pressure regulation were all done manually. Due to human intervention, the water pressure frequently fluctuated, leading to adverse consequences: low water pressure affected domestic water use; high water pressure wasted electricity and could even cause serious consequences such as burst pipes. Therefore, we decided to upgrade the electrical system. This would not only solve the aforementioned problems but also eliminate the need for manual operation, extend the mechanical life of the equipment, and significantly improve the water supply quality.
