Abstract : This paper raises the issue of tight electricity costs at polymer injection stations, briefly describes the electricity consumption process for polymer injection, and introduces effective energy-saving technologies applied in practice by the polymer injection team in the Gu'er District, along with a comparison of their effects. Keywords : Polymer injection, Injection well, Energy saving effect I. Current Situation Currently, the Gudao Oilfield has 232 polymer injection wells, benefiting 893 oil wells. The Gu'er District polymer injection team has 103 polymer injection wells, accounting for 44.4% of the entire plant, with an annual electricity cost of 4 million yuan. The total annual electricity cost for polymer injection in the entire plant is nearly 10 million yuan. With the deepening of oilfield development, especially the continuous expansion of polymer injection scale, energy consumption issues are becoming increasingly prominent. In the first half of 2003, the costs of the Gu'er District polymer injection team mainly occurred in water and electricity costs, which together accounted for 88.65% of the team's total costs. Among them, electricity costs accounted for 43.82% of water and electricity costs, and the absolute amount was relatively large (3.97 million yuan). Based on the sudden increase in electricity costs in April and the large absolute cost, the urgent issue of energy saving and consumption reduction is proposed. **II. Energy Saving Measures** 1. Using Frequency Converters[/b] Promoting the use of frequency converters is one of the most effective energy-saving measures. A frequency converter is a device that changes the motor speed by adjusting the power supply frequency. It is suitable for centralized installation in pump stations or locations with good anti-theft measures. For the polymer injection team, the main power-consuming equipment is the polymer injection pump, totaling 132 units, with 112 frequency converters, resulting in a frequency converter installation rate of 84.8%. The load rate of the polymer injection pumps is 30%–80%. After the polymer injection block enters the second and third stages, the load rate of the polymer injection pumps will be even lower.
