The MDK5531 CNC post-forming edge banding machine is widely used in the wood products industry. Based on domestic and international market conditions and demands, we developed a CNC post-forming edge banding machine controlled by a PLC, touchscreen, and frequency converter. The MDK5531 CNC post-forming edge banding machine features an optimized control system. Based on the principles of miniaturization and flexibility, it utilizes a small Delta PLC, the DVP14SS00R. This reduced input points, requiring only 14 I/O points to meet design requirements. The interactive human-machine interface (HMI) offers flexible and convenient operation, making it more systematic and standardized. The touchscreen uses the Delta HITECH industrial-grade HMI PWS-1711-CTNL, a 5.7-inch monochrome screen, an economical HMI that replaces the control panel, giving the machine tool control a unique character. The touchscreen displays 14 screens, including manual/automatic control and parameter setting interfaces. The automatic mode is divided into four modes based on the workpiece shape, allowing users to choose freely. Each mode divides the movement trajectory of the heating plate into several pause points. Each point represents the rotation angle of the rotating arm at that point, and the pause time at each point is the heating time. The PLC program uses parameter settings to plan these values. These values ​​are power-off retention type and cannot be arbitrarily modified; modifications are only effective at the origin. The angle values ​​of the pause points must be continuous and cannot overlap; this issue must be properly addressed during programming. The PLC, as the host, establishes communication with both the touchscreen and the frequency converter. Communication with the frequency converter uses an RS-485 serial interface in half-duplex mode, which has the significant advantage of strong anti-interference capability. Communication information controls the frequency converter's start, stop, forward rotation, reverse rotation, high speed, low speed, and operation monitoring. Because control signals are directly transmitted to the frequency converter via communication, the number of PLC input contacts is greatly reduced, making the application of small PLCs possible.
