Application of frequency converters in lock control systems

Abstract : This paper introduces the application of frequency converters in the control system of the Subei Canal lock, and raises several issues that deserve attention in the application of frequency converters, and proposes specific solutions. Keywords : Frequency converter, lock, application 1 Introduction Frequency converters, as a high-efficiency motor power drive device, are widely used in industrial production and are increasingly being applied in lock control systems due to their superior control performance, speed control range, efficiency, and maintenance performance, as well as their energy saving, high efficiency, and comprehensive protection functions. This paper summarizes some usage methods based on the operation of frequency converters in the Subei Canal lock and raises some issues to be noted when using frequency converters. 2 Application of Frequency Converters in the Subei Canal Lock The Subei Canal lock has two types of gates: V-shaped gates and horizontal sliding gates. V-shaped gate locks (such as Huaiyin Lock and Suyu Lock) use hydraulic four-link hoists or hydraulic direct-push hoists, while horizontal sliding gate locks (such as Shaobo Lock and Liushan Lock) use gear and rack reverse-push hoists. The transmission principle of hydraulic direct-push and hydraulic four-link gate hoists is as follows: After the motor is powered on, it rotates, converting electrical energy into mechanical energy, which is then transmitted to the oil pump, causing the pump to rotate. The oil pump then outputs pressurized oil, converting the mechanical energy into pressure oil potential energy. This pressurized oil enters the oil cylinder, where the potential energy is further converted into mechanical energy, pushing the gate valve and plug rod to extend or retract, thus driving the gate operation. The transmission principle of the rack and pinion reverse-push gate hoist is as follows: After the motor is powered on, it rotates, converting electrical energy into mechanical energy, which is transmitted to the gearbox. The gearbox drives the gears to rotate, and the rotating gears drive the top flatcar to run on the rack, thus driving the gate operation.
