Abstract : Medium and high voltage high-power frequency converters are increasingly widely used in more and more industries in China. However, to date, medium and high voltage frequency converters do not have a nearly unified topology structure like low-voltage frequency converters. Based on various topologies, this paper introduces various commonly used PWM control methods and analyzes and compares them in detail. Each topology has its own applicable scenarios. Currently, the most commonly used structure in China is the series H-bridge structure, with phase-shifted PWM as the main control method, but space vector PWM also has broad application prospects. At the same time, the objective needs of environmental protection and energy conservation have also provided broad development space for the application of frequency converters in various fields of production and life. To date, medium and high voltage frequency converters do not have a nearly unified topology structure like low-voltage frequency converters. One reason is that high-voltage, high-current power electronic devices still cannot meet the requirements. In practical applications, series and/or parallel connection techniques for devices or low-power units are required. Secondly, many problems that are acceptable or easily solved in low-voltage general-purpose frequency converters become very prominent and difficult to solve in medium- and high-voltage frequency converters. Currently, various topologies for medium- and high-voltage frequency converters have been proposed based on existing power devices, all of which have successfully solved the challenges of high voltage and large capacity. The diverse topologies determine the diverse pulse control methods. This article introduces various commonly used PWM control methods based on various topologies.
