Discussion on Mine Drainage Control System

Abstract : This paper discusses the importance of establishing a mine drainage control system and explores its structure and functions. Keywords : Drainage control system; Frequency converter; Variable frequency controller; Programmable logic controller 0 Introduction Mine drainage systems play a vital role in coal production, and the power consumption of the core equipment, the drainage pump, accounts for a large proportion of the cost per ton of coal. Traditional control methods relying on manual water level measurement and pump start/stop have drawbacks such as low operating efficiency, high power consumption, significant wear and tear on equipment, high impact, power grid pollution, and impact on power quality. Establishing a safe, energy-saving, and advanced drainage control system using modern power electronics, microelectronics, and computer technology is of great significance for safe production and reducing the cost per ton of coal. According to the system's objectives, the mine drainage automatic control system should consist of three parts: a data acquisition system, a frequency conversion system, and a communication and data processing system. 1 Data Acquisition System The data acquisition system mainly consists of a programmable logic controller (PLC) and various sensors. This system enables automatic real-time acquisition of parameters such as water level in the water tank, bus voltage on the input side of the frequency converter, status of the vacuum circuit breaker in the high-voltage starter cabinet and the vacuum contactor in the reactor cabinet of the water pump, operating status and opening/closing position of the electric valve, operating status of the vacuum pump, vacuum degree of the water pump suction pipe and water pump outlet pressure, gate valve opening, motor current, water pump shaft temperature, motor temperature, and drainage pipe flow rate. The PLC analog input module continuously detects the water level in the water tank through sensors, converts and processes the water level change signal, calculates the rate of rise of the water level in different segments per unit time, thereby determining the mine's water inflow and controlling the frequency converter controller in the frequency conversion system to adjust the output frequency of the frequency converter, thus regulating the speed of the water pump to achieve the purpose of regulating the drainage volume. Sensors and transmitters monitoring the inverter input bus voltage, the status of the vacuum circuit breaker in the high-voltage starter cabinet and the vacuum contactor in the reactor cabinet, the operating status and opening/closing position of the electric valves, the operating status of the vacuum pump, the status of the solenoid valves, the vacuum degree of the pump suction pipe and the pressure at the pump outlet, the gate valve opening, the motor current, the pump shaft temperature, the motor temperature, and the drainage pipe flow rate are primarily used to monitor the operating status of the power supply, pumps, and motors. This enables alarms for power outages, equipment failures, and excessive motor and water levels, preventing damage to the pumps and motors that could affect safe production.
