Abstract : This paper comprehensively compares two types of high-voltage frequency converters used in our company from multiple aspects, including application, economy, and operational reliability. Keywords : High-voltage frequency converter, application comparison 1 Introduction Since last year, Xutang Power Generation Co., Ltd. has successively carried out frequency conversion technology upgrades on four primary air fans and four condensate pumps belonging to two 300MW units. In May, the company first used HARSVERT-A06/130 high-voltage frequency converters produced by Beijing Lide Huafu Co., Ltd. to upgrade the condensate pump motors of five units. After successfully upgrading the condensate pump motors of five units, the company then used American Robicon frequency converters to upgrade two primary air fans. Through more than a year of operation, it has been proven that the use of high-voltage frequency converters can significantly save power generation costs and bring huge profits to the company. Since the two types of frequency converters are used on different equipment, it is very difficult to accurately compare the advantages and disadvantages of the two frequency converters; however, in order to promote the application of frequency converters in power plant auxiliary equipment, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive comparison of the application of the two frequency converters in our company, hoping to help other power plants carry out frequency conversion technology upgrades. 2. Comparison of Inverter Application Forms Based on the operating characteristics and system structure of the condensate pumps and primary air fans, our company has adopted significant differences in the inverter application forms for these units. Both condensate pumps in the two units utilize a shared inverter, while each primary air fan uses its own inverter (the primary electrical wiring diagrams are shown in Figures 1 and 2).
