Sulfurized water supply pump load balancing control

Abstract : To control the pressure fluctuation range of the vulcanizing water supply, two identical water pumps were initially used with individual frequency converter control. After experimentation, it was found that one pump was prone to vaporization under certain conditions. A load balancing control scheme was then adopted, enabling the system to operate in three modes: automatic, manual, and semi-automatic. The standby pump can automatically start and stop according to the load, or be manually started and stopped. After more than a year of operation, the pressure control is ideal, reducing the labor intensity of workers. Several issues that should be noted during system operation are also explained. Keywords : Tire vulcanizing high-temperature circulating water; pressure control; water pump; load balancing control; frequency converter; output frequency. In the tire production process, vulcanizing high-temperature circulating water is one of the important media, and the process requires high pressure, which must be controlled within ±4% of the standard pressure. The pressure (internal pressure) of the vulcanizing high-temperature circulating water has always been a key focus of tire vulcanizing process control. With the expansion of tire production scale, the water supply capacity of a single water pump often cannot meet production needs, often requiring two or more water pumps to operate in parallel. Therefore, the load balancing problem of water pump operation has become a new problem that control professionals must face. 1. Current Status and Problems Currently, pressure control for high-temperature circulating water in vulcanization generally includes several methods such as bypass regulation, main circuit plus bypass regulation, and frequency converter plus water pump soft starter regulation. Bypass regulation is the most commonly used pressure regulation method, characterized by its simple regulation system. Its disadvantages are: 1. Regardless of the vulcanizing machine's operating rate, the water pump always operates at full load, and excess high-temperature circulating water leaks out through the bypass regulating valve, forming a short-circuit loop and causing unnecessary energy waste; 2. The bypass regulating valve has a delayed response, resulting in large pressure fluctuations and poor regulation quality. Main circuit plus bypass regulation is an improved form addressing the shortcomings of bypass regulation. Compared with bypass regulation, its advantages are: energy saving and improved pressure regulation quality. In main circuit plus bypass regulation, the bypass valve is usually closed. The opening degree of the main regulating valve varies with the water consumption of the vulcanizing machine. The water pump load is proportional to the opening degree of the main regulating valve, avoiding the water pump always operating at full load, thus achieving energy saving. Main loop regulation is used. When the load changes suddenly, the pressure difference across the main regulating valve helps to mitigate the impact, thus improving the quality of pressure regulation. The disadvantage is that the quality of pressure regulation is not fundamentally changed.
