Abstract: This paper introduces the method and parameter settings for DeviceNet on Danfoss VLT5000 frequency converters. The main unit and discharge section of the CO2 expansion tobacco line at Lanzhou Cigarette Factory use DeviceNet as the device layer network connecting workshop-level equipment. Each DeviceNet segment connects remote I/O stations, frequency converters, soft starters, and smart instruments. In the Lanzhou CO2 expansion tobacco line project, all variable frequency motors are driven by Danfoss VLT5000 frequency converters. The VLT5000 frequency converter communicates with the PLC via DeviceNet to control the motors. Using the PPO2 communication format, the system monitors process parameters such as the status word, operating frequency, inverter temperature, and motor current of the VLT5000 inverter; it also enables real-time control of the start, stop, and frequency of the variable frequency motor. [b]1 DeviceNet and VLT5000 Inverter Setup Process 1.1 Hardware Structure and Configuration[/b] The Lanzhou CO2 expanded tobacco line project uses the AB ControlLogix 1756-L55M14 PLC and the DeviceNet gateway uses the 1756-DNB communication module. 1.2 Hardware Connection Before installing the network card, use DIP0-6 to set the inverter slave node address. DIP7 and 8 are used to set the network scan rate, which is kept at the default 125K (DIP0-8 set to "On" indicates the corresponding bit is "0"). After setting the address and scan frequency, install the network card into the inverter. Next, perform DeviceNet network wiring, connecting the frequency converter and the 1756-DNB module, connecting a 24V DC power supply, and connecting terminating resistors at both ends.
