0 Introduction After nearly twenty years of development, frequency converters have made significant progress in terms of size, circuit board design, and the integration of electronic components. New products are constantly being introduced, including general-purpose, fan and pump-specific, and simplified series. Their simple and practical operation and high cost-effectiveness meet the needs of different users, which is a foundation for their continued development. Here, I will share some of my experiences regarding the application of frequency converters in speed-regulating nuclear scales. 1 Problem Statement One of the admixtures added to the cement produced by our company is slag. The slag is mainly transported to the silo by mine cars and then fed into the cement mill silo by an HCS-PC industrial control nuclear scale according to the mixing ratio (using a clinker nuclear scale as the main scale and a slag nuclear scale as the speed-regulating scale; the slag flow rate tracks the clinker flow rate and changes according to the set mixing ratio, thus achieving automatic mixing). Finally, it enters the cement mill silo along with the clinker. The speed regulation system uses a slip clutch, which has the following disadvantages: 1.1 Prone to stalling Due to the harsh working environment, material dust can easily enter the gap between the motor rotor and the clutch, causing the motor and clutch to fail to disengage during operation. The clutch will then rotate with the motor, reaching its maximum speed and preventing speed adjustment, thus affecting the effective proportion of slag and consequently the quality of cement products. 1.2 High energy consumption and low efficiency The slip clutch used in the speed regulation system operates by utilizing the interaction between eddy currents in the armature and the magnetic field of the magnetic poles. Therefore, it suffers from high operating losses and low efficiency, especially at low speeds. It is not suitable for prolonged operation at low speeds.
