Abstract : This paper introduces the functions, performance characteristics, technical parameters, and applications of the ACS600 frequency converter in drive systems. The principle of its direct torque control technology is explained in detail, which is very beneficial for our future study of ACS600 frequency converters, application of ACS600 frequency converter technology, and equipment selection. Keywords : ACS600 frequency converter, control system, drive, PR0FIBUS, DTC [b]1 Introduction[/b] In order to further improve quality, reduce energy consumption, and ensure the overall reliability of the control system, the drive system adopts the ACS600 all-digital AC frequency converter for control. 2 Functions and performance characteristics of the ACS600 frequency converter [b](1) Functions of the ACS600 frequency converter (produced by ABB)[/b] The ACS600 singledrive is a new generation of all-digital AC frequency converter that can achieve the perfect limit of AC motor control. The ACS600 is the first generation of AC frequency converters to adopt direct torque control technology (DTC), which can accurately control the speed and torque of any standard squirrel-cage motor without the feedback of optical encoder or tachometer motor. The ACS600 standard inverter modules range from 2.2kW to 3000kW and are all IGBT power modules. An input line reactor is installed inside the inverter to effectively suppress the impact of high-order harmonics on the power grid. To meet the needs of different applications, the ACS600 product series offers a full range of braking capabilities. In most applications, flux braking or dynamic braking with a braking chopper and braking resistor can provide effective braking power. The ACS600 product series also offers models with regenerative braking, which can feed regenerative energy back to the grid instead of consuming it on the braking resistor. This is beneficial in applications with continuously feeding loads or large inertia loads that require deceleration. [b](2) Performance characteristics of the ACS600 inverter[/b] ① In DTC (Direct Torque Control technology), stator flux and torque are used as the main control variables. A high-speed digital signal processor combined with an advanced motor software model updates the motor state 40,000 times per second. Because the motor state and the comparison between the actual value and the given value are constantly updated, each switching state of the inverter is determined individually. This means the drive can generate optimal switching combinations and respond quickly to dynamic changes such as load disturbances and momentary power outages. DTC eliminates the need for separate PWM modulators for voltage and frequency control, thus avoiding a fixed chopping frequency. In actual operation, it avoids the high-frequency noise emitted by other frequency converters driving motors, and also reduces the power consumption of the frequency converter itself.
