Abstract : This paper introduces the precautions for using frequency converters, analyzing aspects such as ambient temperature, prevention of electromagnetic interference, lightning protection, and dust prevention. Keywords : Frequency converter, electromagnetic interference, lightning protection 1. Structure and Application of Frequency Converters The basic structure of a frequency converter is shown in Figure 1. Figure 1. Composition diagram of a frequency converter The main function of a frequency converter is to rectify the AC power from the power grid and provide the required DC power to the inverter circuit and control circuit. A frequency converter can be regarded as an AC power source with adjustable frequency. For existing asynchronous machines that operate at constant speed, simply connecting a frequency converter and corresponding equipment between the power grid and the existing motor allows for speed control using the frequency converter, thereby achieving good speed regulation performance. 2. Advantages and Disadvantages of Variable Frequency Speed Control Compared to traditional AC drives, AC drive systems using frequency converters to control the speed of AC motors have many advantages, such as: energy saving; the ability to achieve efficient continuous speed control over a wide range; currently, the output frequency of high-frequency frequency converters has reached 3000kHz, and using such high-speed frequency converters to drive two-stage asynchronous motors can achieve speeds up to 180,000 r/min; easy switching between forward and reverse rotation of the motor; high-frequency start-stop operation, electric braking, and efficient drive; adaptability to various working environments; the ability to control the speed of multiple motors with a single frequency converter; high power factor; and small power supply capacity requirement.
