Predicting the application of fuzzy logic control in power plant water treatment

Abstract: In the chemical dosing control system of power plant water treatment, conventional PID control is insufficient to meet the control requirements of the dosing system due to the characteristics of the controlled object, such as pure time delay, large inertia, and difficulty in establishing a mathematical model. This paper focuses on the estimation fuzzy logic control scheme and its design method for the water treatment chemical dosing system. Simulation analysis shows that the estimation fuzzy logic algorithm can achieve satisfactory control of the dosing system.

Abstract: It is difficult to apply PID control to the adding medicament system with big time-delay, large inertial, no exact model characteristic. This paper introduces control strategy and design method of the system. This system has obtained satisfying result by using fuzzy logic controller with predictive model.

Currently, most thermal power plant water treatment dosing control systems still rely on manual dosing. This involves periodically measuring and analyzing the pH value of collected wastewater samples, then manually adjusting the dosing pump's operating time to change the dosing dosage—a form of manual, intermittent control. This method cannot meet the changing needs of on-site operating conditions, resulting in highly variable pH values ​​in the discharged wastewater, failing to meet wastewater discharge requirements. This not only pollutes the environment but also wastes significant amounts of chemicals, causing substantial economic losses. Therefore, a new control method is needed to manage the dosing system.
