Abstract: This paper analyzes the drive control technology of DC inverter compressors and motors. Through experimental testing of a DC inverter air conditioner using R410A refrigerant, it is verified that the inverter employing 180° sine wave drive control technology is highly effective in reducing compressor operating noise. Keywords : Household air conditioner, DC inverter technology, R410A refrigerant 1 Introduction With the implementation of the Montreal Protocol (a requirement for ozone layer protection), and the increasing focus and consensus of governments and society on energy conservation in household appliances due to energy shortages in recent years, household air conditioners, which consume the most electricity among household appliances, have seen new developments in "environmentally friendly and energy-saving" technologies. Products using R410A refrigerant DC inverter technology are gradually becoming a development trend. In the Japanese domestic market, air conditioners using R410A refrigerant accounted for over 60% of the market share in small household air conditioners in fiscal year 2004 (refrigeration year) (mainly DC inverter heat pump models). According to the Japan Refrigeration Association's plan, a complete switch to HCFC refrigerant (R22) products sold in the market will be completed by 2010. The European market, a traditionally important export market for Chinese household air conditioners, has largely completed the switch to HCFC refrigerants in recent years, following the promulgation and implementation of regulations such as "HCFC refrigerant restrictions" and "energy efficiency ratings and labels" (the new refrigerants are mainly R407C and R410A). Meanwhile, high-efficiency DC inverter air conditioners using R410A refrigerant are gradually being accepted by users. Domestic air conditioner manufacturers began launching and selling R410A refrigerant DC inverter products to the European market in 2004. Currently, market orders are continuously growing, and the prospects are very promising. In the domestic market, due to factors such as disorderly price competition, immature inverter control technology, and cost constraints, the market share of inverter products (including AC inverters) declined year by year after 2000. Starting in 2005, with the promulgation and implementation of the national "Energy Saving Standard for Household Air Conditioners," it is believed that DC inverter products, with their significant advantages in energy-saving technology, will experience substantial development. In fact, as early as 2004, some air conditioner manufacturers had already launched DC inverter air conditioners using R410A refrigerant in the domestic market. This article will explain the development and design of R410A refrigerant DC inverter air conditioners, including compressor technology and the drive control technology of DC brushless motors. It will also analyze and discuss the test results through a design example of an air conditioner (KFR-26GW).
