Research on Sensor Fault Diagnosis Based on Hardware Redundancy

Abstract: This paper studies the sensor fault diagnosis method based on hardware redundancy, designs a fault diagnosis algorithm, and demonstrates through experiments that this method has excellent fault location for sensor fault detection, greatly improving the efficiency of fault diagnosis. Keywords: sensor, hardware redundancy, fault diagnosis, fault detection 1. Introduction Currently, sensors are widely used in many fields to detect parameters during system operation. If a sensor malfunctions, it may cause the system to malfunction. Therefore , many methods for detecting sensor faults have been developed, including hardware redundancy methods, analytical redundancy methods, and artificial neural network methods. This paper uses the hardware redundancy method to study sensor fault diagnosis. Hardware redundancy information originates from redundant sensors. Several redundant sensors measure the same physical variable to generate residuals. These residuals are compared with a threshold for fault detection and location, where the threshold depends on the sensor's measurement accuracy. Before applying fault detection methods, the measurement model to be used must be defined. This paper conducts an in-depth study on sensor fault diagnosis based on hardware redundancy.
