Research on Control Strategy of Variable Speed ​​Constant Frequency Brushless Doubly Fed Wind Turbine

Abstract : This paper studies the mathematical model of a brushless doubly-fed induction generator (BDFM) based on the rotor reference shaft dq model. According to the characteristics of BDFM, a power control system is realized by adopting power winding field-oriented control. This system achieves decoupled control of active and reactive power of the variable-speed constant-frequency generator by controlling the generator's control winding for AC excitation. Computer simulation results verify the correctness and effectiveness of the variable-speed constant-frequency control. Introduction Wind power resources, as a clean and inexpensive renewable resource, are the most realistic choice for China's energy and power construction to achieve sustainable development. The new variable-speed constant-frequency wind turbine generator can maintain the optimal tip speed ratio to obtain the best wind energy below the rated wind speed; above the rated wind speed, it can store or release some energy by adjusting the wind turbine generator speed, improving the flexibility of the transmission system and keeping the output power stable. Furthermore, the brushless doubly-fed generator overcomes some of the shortcomings of traditional doubly-fed generators and is a new type of wind turbine particularly suitable for variable-speed constant-frequency wind power systems. It not only reduces inverter capacity and power generation system costs while improving technical reliability, but also eliminates brushes and slip rings, resulting in a simple, robust, and reliable structure suitable for the harsh working environment of wind power generation, making it highly valuable for widespread application.
