Abstract: Based on the process characteristics of the Caitianpu 50,000 tons/day wastewater treatment plant in Hefei, this paper analyzes the composition and control method of its control system, introduces a control scheme for the wastewater treatment plant built using ControlLogix, and proposes the future direction of wastewater treatment control system development.

1 Introduction
With the rapid development of microprocessors, computers, and digital communication technologies, computer control has expanded to almost all industrial fields. Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) emerged to meet this demand. They are general-purpose industrial control devices based on microprocessors, and are industrial control computers whose control functions are changed by programs. Due to their powerful functions, high reliability, strong environmental adaptability and anti-interference capabilities, as well as simple wiring and flexible and convenient programming, they have been widely used. This article introduces the implementation of a control system for a wastewater treatment plant using Rockwell's ControlLogix series PLCs.
2. Current Status of Wastewater Treatment Control Systems
Abroad, wastewater treatment control technology widely adopts advanced automation technologies such as DCS, PLC, and fieldbus, achieving a high level of automation and technological sophistication. In my country, the traditional control method consists of field instruments + display instruments + controllers + manual operation, a method that lags significantly behind developed countries. With the rapid development of automation control technology in China, many wastewater treatment plants have adopted PLC control with good results, and fieldbus is gradually being applied in this industry.
The Caitianpu Wastewater Treatment Plant uses a powerful control system composed of ROCKWELL's ControlLogix series PLC, Hirschmann's MACH3000 switch, and ROCKWELL's RSVIEW.
