Abstract: This paper proposes a sensorless vector control method for a salient-pole motor based on DSP. This algorithm fully utilizes the characteristics of the salient-pole motor to approximate the rotor position, greatly reducing the computational load. Furthermore, this algorithm cleverly utilizes the polarity of the shaft flux linkage to approximate the rotor speed, achieving complete sensorless vector control. Finally, the implementation of this algorithm based on the TMS320F2812 DSP is presented. Keywords: Permanent magnet synchronous motor; Salient-pole motor; Position estimation; Speed estimation; Sensorless control Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) are increasingly widely used due to their high efficiency and other advantages. The core of PMSM drive lies in the detection of the motor rotor's speed and position. The usual practice is to install position sensors on the rotor to detect its position and speed. However, installing sensors increases additional costs and the size of the motor. Therefore, sensorless motor drive systems are a major trend in modern permanent magnet synchronous motor drives. In recent years, many scholars have conducted extensive research and exploration in sensorless control strategies, resulting in numerous new sensorless control strategies. These strategies all revolve around rotor position and speed estimation. However, no single control strategy is suitable for all motors. This paper discusses the control object of the SPM motor, which can be considered a salient-pole motor with a large effective air gap, making vector control of the SPM synchronous motor relatively simple. This strategy fully utilizes the characteristics of the salient-pole motor and approximates the model of the permanent magnet synchronous motor, making the estimation of rotor angle and speed relatively simple. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of this control strategy. For details, please click: Sensorless Vector Control Method for SPM Motors Based on DSP
