Application of Excellence TSC series industrial switches in power distribution network projects

The power supply bureau system development and application project is a science and technology project of X power supply bureau. In order to ensure the normal operation of the system, a safe, stable and reliable network system must be established. In terms of design principles, the switching equipment adopts industrial-grade Ethernet equipment, which supports 10/100Mbps or 10/100/1000Mbps types on the interface; in terms of network structure, the industrial Ethernet switches support star, industrial ring and tree topologies.

Taking into account the network applications of this project, and considering availability, reliability, security, real-time performance, scalability, and manageability, the overall transmission network design adopts a 100M redundant "industrial ring network" and a 1000M backbone link interconnection design.

The overall system design adopts a three-layer network structure. The network transmission part mainly consists of branch offices, substations, and cabinet-based communication equipment. A three-layer routing protocol is used for the interconnection between branch offices and substations, and an industrial redundant ring network design is adopted for each DIN rail-mounted industrial switch device within the cabinet.

Based on the site environment and requirements, we specifically selected the industrial Ethernet switch manufactured by TSC. Details are as follows:

Industrial backbone network

Several TSC PT33 Layer 3 industrial Ethernet switches are used in both the branch office and substation backbone switches. Layer 3 routing protocols are configured to ensure fast data transmission within the system.

Interconnection of terminal equipment in each substation
For interconnecting terminal equipment within each substation, the Carat55E system industrial Ethernet switch is used to achieve the connection of each terminal device.
1. Usability Analysis

Based on the actual environmental requirements of the power supply bureau's system development and application projects, TSC industrial-grade Ethernet switches were selected. TSC Pt33-A Layer 3 industrial Ethernet switches were used in the branch offices and substations; TSC Carat55EFC2 S2-20 industrial Ethernet switches were used in the monitoring point cabinets to achieve an industrial redundant ring network design. TSC industrial-grade Ethernet products have wide applications in power projects both domestically and internationally. The availability of these devices ensures the availability of the entire system.

2 Reliability Analysis

For power supply bureau transmission network systems, reliability is paramount and a crucial performance indicator. For systems carrying multiple services, a highly reliable network is especially vital. Excellent TSC industrial-grade switches are a trusted domestic manufacturer of industrial switches, with products widely used in rail transportation, power, metallurgy, and other industrial sectors. 3. High Redundancy Analysis

Redundancy is primarily reflected in equipment design and network interconnection. To meet the requirements of this Guiyang Power Supply Bureau system development and application project, and to ensure a high degree of system redundancy, the selected TSC industrial-grade Ethernet equipment features dual power inputs, guaranteeing equipment redundancy. In the overall network equipment, Layer 3 routing technology and the TSC industrial ring network protocol are employed to ensure redundancy of all interconnecting links.

4. Security Analysis

Enable OSPF's security authentication function to ensure secure data transmission in the Layer 3 interconnection.
Enable VLANs to isolate terminals or services and prevent data interference.
Enable IP ACL and MAC ACL features to prevent unauthorized intrusion.
Close unused ports on the device to prevent unauthorized access.

5. Manageability Analysis

It provides a simple web interface for management, and the device has a convenient and user-friendly interface, avoiding the complexity of device configuration.

6. Extensibility Analysis

The system has good scalability, allowing for easy network modifications when changes occur in a particular area due to network infrastructure changes. Furthermore, it can be easily expanded via reserved system interfaces to achieve integration with other subway lines of different numbers to be constructed in the future.
