The cornerstone of the MES system: Zijinqiao Real-time Database

As we all know, the manufacturing industry has always pursued the shortest market response time, the highest product quality, and the lowest production costs. With changing environments, the methods companies use to achieve these goals and the challenges they face have also changed. Flattened management structures have become an inherent requirement for enterprises. In recent years, the large-scale implementation and application of MES systems have greatly improved the informatization level of modern enterprises and factory production efficiency. MES systems have three main functions: planning, production operation, and information transmission. The data at each layer of the MES system largely requires support from real-time data from the lower-level operations. Zijinqiao Real-Time Database is playing a crucial role in modern enterprise informatization transformation and the implementation of MES systems, silently providing strong real-time data support to upper-level management. Connecting the Past and the Future: The Key Position of Zijinqiao Real-Time Database [RealDB] In the 1990s, AMR, through surveys of numerous enterprises, discovered that well-developed enterprise production management systems generally consist of three layers of software: enterprise management software represented by ERP and MRPII; MES software that automates operations and supports comprehensive enterprise integration; and production process monitoring software represented by SCADA and HMI (such as Zijinqiao monitoring and configuration software). However, in the bottom-up or top-down data transmission process, there was a lack of a central hub capable of rapidly transmitting large amounts of real-time data. The emergence of real-time database software bridged the gap between the MES layer and the underlying data acquisition layer. On one hand, real-time databases can store data acquired by configuration software, DCS, and instrument status data to monitor the operating status of underlying equipment in real time. This data can then be analyzed, calculated, and processed to generate fault alarms, etc. On the other hand, real-time databases can provide large-scale real-time data to the MES layer, enabling the MES to effectively process, analyze, and perform model calculations, conveniently and reliably integrating the control system and information system. Interoperability: Real-time Databases Provide a Powerful Data Engine for MES Systems As data support, the Zijingqiao Real-time Database acts as an information hub in the entire information system. It's essentially an engine providing real-time production data to the MES system and upper-level management systems, silently playing its irreplaceable role. The Zijingqiao Real-time Database offers various open interfaces, allowing users to communicate with it using the system's API interfaces, COM controls, OPC servers, DDE servers, etc. These powerful interfaces lay the foundation for free data exchange between the Zijingqiao Real-time Database and the MES system. Furthermore, Real-DB can seamlessly connect with relational databases, enabling bidirectional data exchange through simple settings. It can also achieve event-driven data interaction through SQL function blocks, thus enabling more upper-level management. Slight Weakness: China's Independent Real-time Database Products Are Still in Their Early Stages Although the development and large-scale application of real-time databases began in the last century, they are not yet widespread or widely used in China. In recent years, the Chinese government has significantly improved the competitiveness of enterprises through research and promotion of projects such as the 853 Program and CIMS. However, the overall level of enterprise informatization in my country still lags far behind that of developed countries, and information silos are prevalent. In factory automation (FA), Chinese manufacturing enterprises have historically emphasized production automation, such as automated production equipment and automated testing instruments. While these have replaced much manual labor and solved some production bottlenecks, the lack of corresponding information integration systems has prevented them from fully realizing their potential, creating so-called "information silos." With the application of MES software at the manufacturing execution layer and the powerful data support from real-time databases, this situation will gradually change. Currently, there are very few domestically developed and widely used real-time database software products. Zijinqiao Software is one of the few products with significant advantages, especially in industries such as petrochemicals, tobacco, and metallurgy, where Zijinqiao database has a clear advantage and industry background. The prototype of Zijinqiao Real-Time Database originated from the development of the national "Ninth Five-Year Plan" key project, "Real-Time Database and its Monitoring System Platform Software," as well as the national 863 Program CIMS demonstration projects, "Daqing Petrochemical General Plant Ethylene Plant CIMS" and "Daqing Petrochemical Fertilizer Plant CIMS." The software product truly matured and was widely applied when Zijinqiao undertook the second phase of the national 863 project, "Research and Development of Real-Time Database System," in 2002. With the continuous improvement of enterprise informatization application levels, enterprises have gradually realized that achieving bidirectional information flow interaction between the planning and execution layers, and realizing full integration of enterprise information through continuous information flow, is a crucial factor in improving enterprise agility. It is believed that in the future process of enterprise informatization, Zijinqiao Real-Time Database will play an even more important role, providing strong data support for management and contributing to the growth of automation and MES in Chinese enterprises.
