The technical level of the XPR1-SH/CN digital/Chinese display series intelligent motor soft starter: The development of the domestic low- and medium-voltage solid-state (thyristor) motor soft starter market began in the early 1990s. After more than a decade of effort, motor soft starter technology and its products have been accepted by the market and have achieved a certain degree of widespread application. The principle of the intelligent starting technology of the XPR1-SH/CN digital/Chinese display series soft starter: The intelligent soft starter adopts adaptive soft start control technology. The term "adaptive" refers to the automatic adjustment and direct response of an expert system based on actual conditions, rather than a rudimentary intelligent approach where a microcomputer first learns, memorizes, and then makes judgments. Specifically, it involves starting the machine based on user-defined parameters, continuously monitoring the motor's status and parameters during startup, and adjusting control parameters in real time to ensure optimal starting performance. The most crucial aspect is ensuring smooth motor acceleration; under all conditions, the motor speed curve must be smooth, continuous, and monotonically increasing without any speed inflection points. In contrast, non-intelligent soft starters inevitably exhibit varying degrees of motor and current fluctuations during startup, resulting in speed curve inflection points or even severe vibrations such as resonance, posing significant safety hazards to the power grid, motor, and even the load machinery. The reason why intelligent soft-start control technology can ensure a smooth rise in motor speed curve is that it utilizes a multi-parameter feedback control system for current, voltage, and speed. It employs a principle similar to (but different from) sensorless vector control technology in variable frequency drives, using the relative speed of the controlled motor as the main feedback parameter. Not only is the change in motor speed measurable, but it is also known whether the motor has reached its rated speed. In other words, another characteristic of intelligent soft-start technology, unlike ordinary control methods, is its ability to accurately detect and indicate whether the motor start-up was successful and when it was completed. Taking the voltage ramp-start method commonly used in soft starters as an example, using traditional control methods, one can simply assume that the motor speed is approximately proportional to the voltage applied to the motor. Therefore, if the voltage applied to the motor can be increased linearly, the motor will accelerate linearly. Ordinary non-intelligent soft starters control motors in this way, calculating the rate of change of the thyristor firing angle based on the user-set start-up time parameter, and indicating that the start-up is complete when the time is up. However, the situation is not so simple, because the above reasoning is derived under ideal conditions of stable load. But in controlling motors, especially motors under load, the actual effect is not ideal. The above reasoning overlooks two important phenomena: first, the firing angle applied to the thyristor is not always equal to the conduction angle of the thyristor; second, the calculated voltage applied to the motor is not always equal to the actual voltage received by the motor. In fact, the voltage ramp starting method of a soft starter essentially aims to achieve a motor speed ramp. As long as the motor speed ramp is achieved, we don't care whether the voltage output by the soft starter is ramped (linear). This is the fundamental design philosophy that distinguishes intelligent soft starters from ordinary non-intelligent soft starters. The motor soft start control method, which uses (indirect) speed as the main feedback parameter, avoids complex parameter acquisition and mathematical calculations, achieving a near-ideal motor soft start control effect.
