[Foreword]
Relevant national administrative departments have implemented a strict GMP certification standard system for pharmaceutical manufacturers, imposing a series of certification standards on their plants, equipment, and supporting facilities. Currently, an increasing number of pharmaceutical companies are facing or are upgrading their equipment, leading to a rise in the automation level of pharmaceutical machinery. Taking infusion patch packaging machines as an example, most infusion patch manufacturers currently use outdated equipment that has been in use for many years, with low automation levels. It relies entirely on mechanical control or partial relay contact circuit logic control. If the specifications of the infusion patch products change, the mechanical parts of the equipment require significant modifications, which is very troublesome. By adopting Delta's integrated automation control solution, the equipment can flexibly adjust various process parameters according to different product processing techniques, conveniently and quickly meeting the processing needs of different products.

Infusion patches, as the name suggests, are topical adhesive medications used by patients when receiving intravenous infusions. Automatic infusion patch packaging machines can automatically feed, cut, and package in fixed quantities, achieving high production efficiency of up to 60 packs/minute and 5 patches/pack.

The control system technical solution is shown in Figure 1:
Figure 1: Control System Technical Scheme Diagram
The equipment uses a Delta DOP-B series 5.6-inch HMI as the host computer, which can set and display equipment operation actions and process parameters. The main controller uses Delta's new ES2 series PLC, the DVP24ES200T PLC, which has high-speed pulse input and output functions. It can collect high-speed pulse signals, and the PLC controls the servo system to move quickly according to the pulse signal input, realizing rapid cutting, quantitative packaging and other process actions. By adjusting the operating frequency of the spindle rotation frequency converter, the operating speed of the main drive motor can be changed, and the running speed of the infusion patch can be changed accordingly, thereby changing the product cutting and packaging efficiency of the equipment.
The following is a brief introduction to the various process actions of the equipment based on the main screen program of the human-machine interface.
Figure 2: Automatic page view Figure 3: Debug page view
When the equipment is operating normally on the automatic page (Figure 2), the spindle can be controlled to move jog or run continuously via buttons. In case of emergency, the mushroom-head emergency stop button must be pressed. The human-machine interface displays the spindle inverter operating frequency, the number of infusion patches processed, and the number of packs.
On the debugging page (Figure 3), users can manually test the operation of key mechanical components of the equipment, which facilitates equipment debugging and normal maintenance.
Figure 4: Settings page screen Figure 5: Alarm page screen
The settings screen (Figure 4) allows you to set the delay time for each stage of the infusion patch production and packaging, the number of patches dispensed, and the servo packaging speed. Different parameters correspond to different product specifications. The alarm screen (Figure 5) displays reference information when the equipment malfunctions. You can turn off the alarm sound and screen display.
Figure 6: Transmission Page Screen
The transmission screen (Figure 6) allows manual adjustment of the operating positions of various mechanical components during the packaging process, helping users to fine-tune the packaging process and the operating positions of various product raw materials.
The inverter parameter values are shown in the table below:
P76 | 9 | Inverter restored to 50Hz factory setting |
P00 | 3 | The main frequency input is controlled by serial communication. |
P01 | 1 | Operation command controlled by external terminal; keyboard Stop function enabled. |
P02 | 1 | The motor stops in a free-running manner. |
P10 | 0.1 | First acceleration time selection |
The servo system parameter values are shown in the table below:
P02-15 | 0 | Cancel Reversal Limit Protection |
P02-16 | 0 | Cancel forward rotation limit protection |
P02-17 | 0 | Cancel emergency stop protection |
P02-10 | 1 | Servo internal SON signal |
