Abstract: This paper introduces one kind of MZX vane air door of mine ventilation, the air door can be used as the main ventilation door, can also be used as an auxiliary ventilation doors.
Key words: MZX vane air door, mine ventilation, non-stop reverse.
0 Introduction
Mine ventilation plays a vital role in mine safety production, and mine production has very strict requirements for underground ventilation. Local gas exceedance is the main safety hazard restricting mine safety production. This requires the ventilation fan to continuously deliver fresh air to the mine through the air door to achieve normal air circulation underground, dilute and discharge harmful gases and dust underground, and regulate the temperature and humidity of the underground air [1]. At present, mine ventilation hopes to achieve non-stop ventilation of the main fan during the reversing process, that is, the air doors of the two air ducts are required to be linked. At the same time, mine ventilation requires good airtightness of the air door, convenient operation and maintenance, and stable operation. The traditional gate-type air door cannot meet the above new requirements and is not suitable for the needs of the modernization of mine ventilation. Based on the study of the existing mine ventilation air door, this paper designs a new type of MZX type rotary air door that is easy to operate, has excellent airtightness, and can achieve linkage operation. The rotary air door can achieve on-site control, remote control, manual control, and inching control. Through linkage operation, the main fan can be reversed without stopping. Compared with traditional gate-type air doors, the MZX type rotary vane air door is more suitable for the requirements of modern mine ventilation automation and has better ventilation efficiency.
1. Structural Composition of MZX Type Rotary Vane Damper
The MZX type rotary vane damper is mainly composed of a frame, vanes, transmission components, electric actuator, and electrical control system, as shown in Figure 1.

(1) Frame part
The frame is mainly composed of components such as the drive beam, driven beam, crossbeam, drive beam cover plate, driven beam cover plate, and motor frame. The frame supports and mounts other components within the damper, serving as the "skeleton" of the entire rotary damper system. The drive beam, driven beam, and crossbeam are all bent from a single piece of HG70 high-strength steel plate, ensuring sufficient strength and mechanical properties. Foam sealing boards are inserted at the joints between beams, and rubber sealing strips are affixed to the side plates of the crossbeams to ensure a tight seal and prevent leakage during operation.
(2) Fan blade section
The fan blade is mainly composed of stainless steel plate, shaft, support plate, transverse sealing strip (B-type rubber strip), longitudinal sealing strip (P-type rubber strip), wind baffle and other components, and its structure is shown in Figure 2.

The fan blades are symmetrically bent from a single piece of stainless steel plate, with welded and riveted joints. The blades maintain a smooth and flat surface, featuring a streamlined diamond design to minimize airflow loss as it passes through the damper. The stainless steel material ensures the blades are rust- and corrosion-resistant in open-pit mining environments, allowing for prolonged and effective operation. The blades are sealed with B-type and P-type rubber strips of moderate hardness and strength, providing excellent sealing and low noise from the metal-rubber contact, ensuring smooth and reliable operation. The sealing strips are adhered to the blades with cryogenic gel and then secured with stainless steel pressure strips and riveted in place.

The gear and rack combination, as a transmission component, has advantages such as good transmission smoothness, good synchronous force transmission, and easy adjustment of the initial position. This can ensure smooth operation of the damper when opening and closing, with less vibration and noise, while ensuring the synchronous action of the fan blades when opening and closing. It is also convenient to make fine adjustments to ensure that the fan blades are closed in place and to avoid leakage.
2. Working principle of MZX type rotary vane damper
The MZX type rotary blade damper is powered by an electric actuator. The blades are evenly arranged in the frame, and each blade is connected to a matching transmission component. The electric actuator drives the gears and racks in the transmission component to move synchronously, thereby opening and closing the damper through the synchronous rotation of the blades. Its on-site working state is shown in Figure 4.
Figure 4. Actual picture of MZX rotary vane damper
When the main fan is being switched to replace the ventilation duct, after the electric actuator drives the MZX rotary blade damper to move to a certain angle, the fan blades in the damper can automatically seal using wind pressure. This saves power and ensures a good sealing effect under wind pressure. The MZX rotary blade damper mainly relies on the friction between the fan blades and the frame, the overlap between the fan blades, and the pressure of the rubber sealing strip to achieve sealing.
With advanced electric actuators and electrical control systems, remote control, on-site control, inching control and manual control of MZX rotary vane dampers can be realized. This not only facilitates centralized and effective control of the damper system from the control console, but also ensures manual operation when the damper electrical control system malfunctions, allowing for smooth opening and closing of the damper[2]. The MZX rotary vane damper designed in this paper can ensure that the damper can be smoothly opened and closed within 1 minute under negative pressure, with uniform and stable operation and no vibration or shaking[3]. The monitoring system interface of the MZX rotary vane damper is shown in Figure 5.

3. Actual operation of MZX type rotary vane damper
MZX rotary vane dampers have been put into use in some mines of Pingmei Group and have achieved good actual operating results. This type of damper is not only easy and reliable to operate, but also meets the requirements of coal mine safety production in all aspects of its operating parameters [4]. Table 1 compares and lists the main performance parameters of MZX rotary vane dampers and traditional gate dampers.
As can be clearly seen from Table 1, the main performance parameters of the MZX rotary vane damper are superior to those of the traditional gate damper, and it performs better in practical applications.
4 Conclusion
The MZX rotary vane damper is simple and reliable to operate, easy to maintain, runs smoothly and reliably, operates quickly, has good sealing performance, and a long service life. Furthermore, when used with advanced electric actuators and control systems, it can achieve remote, on-site, inching, and manual control of the damper. It can also perform coordinated operation of multiple dampers, enabling uninterrupted operation of the main ventilation fan during reversal. It can be used as a key piece of equipment in uninterrupted reversal systems. The MZX rotary vane damper has demonstrated excellent performance in actual field operation and is worthy of application and promotion.
