On September 16, 2014, the National Technical Committee on Standardization of Industrial Process Measurement and Control (SAC/TC124) held a press conference and report meeting at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing to release the recommended national standard GB/T 25105.1~3-2014 "Industrial Communication Networks - Fieldbus Specifications - Type 10: Profinet IO Specification" (3 parts). Dr. Sun Wei, Deputy Director of the Information Technology and Automation Division of the Industrial Standards Department II of the Standardization Administration of China, attended the meeting and announced that the Profinet IO technical specification had officially become a recommended national standard. This means that the Profinet IO industrial fieldbus technical specification based on industrial Ethernet will be more widely used in the Chinese market in the future, helping Chinese customers achieve flexibility, efficiency, and high performance.
The Profinet IO technical specification, which has been approved by the Standardization Administration of China as a recommended national standard, consists of three parts: "Fieldbus Specification Type 10: Profinet IO Specification Part 1: Application Layer Service Definition" (GB/T 25105.1-2014), "Fieldbus Specification Type 10: Profinet IO Specification Part 2: Application Layer Protocol Specification" (GB/T 25105.2-2014), and "Fieldbus Specification Type 10: Profinet IO Specification Part 3: Profinet IO Communication Standards" (GB/T 25105.3-2014).
The Profinet IO technical specification defines the communication standards between controllers and distributed I/O. In 2010, Profinet IO was approved as a national standardization guidance technical document in China. In the following four years, the application of Profinet IO in China grew rapidly, and many domestic companies began to independently develop I/O devices, switches, instruments, and other products compliant with the Profinet IO technical specification. A Profinet testing laboratory authorized by Profibus & Profinet International was also established in China.
