1. The meaning of the name "digital barometer".
"Numbers" here refers to numerical quantities, defined as:
Physical quantities that are discrete in both time and quantity are called digital quantities.
To elaborate further, the counterpart to digital quantities is analog quantities, defined as:
Physical quantities that are continuous in time or in value are called analog quantities.
Taking watches as an example, electronic watches indicate time using numbers, which is a digital quantity, while mechanical watches indicate time using hands, which is an analog watch.
Therefore, a "digital pressure gauge" can be interpreted as a gauge that represents air pressure values using digital values.
2. What is air pressure?
Defined as: Atmospheric pressure is the pressure exerted on a unit area of air. The SI unit is the Pascal, with the symbol Pa.
The atmospheric pressure in our environment is 101.3 kPa, also known as standard atmospheric pressure.
Common units of air pressure include: kPa, MPa, kg/cm², bar, Psi, mmHg, mmH₂O, etc. Our pressure gauges allow you to switch between these units via a menu.
Gauge pressure and absolute pressure
Gauge pressure = Absolute pressure – Atmospheric pressure. Our pressure gauges display gauge pressure. This formula shows that at atmospheric pressure, the gauge reads 0.
Positive and negative pressure
According to the formula for calculating gauge pressure above, air pressure greater than atmospheric pressure is positive pressure, and vice versa is negative pressure.
3. Digital switch output and analog output
The definition of digital quantities has been mentioned earlier. Digital switch quantities are a subset or special case of digital quantities. They have only two quantities, 0 and 1, which correspond to the two states of open and closed, ON or OFF, respectively.
There are usually two types: NPN and PNP, which differ in how the load is connected.
The analog output is an analog quantity. Our pressure gauges output 4-20mA current type and 1-5V voltage type.
