Airtek: Definition and Advantages of Tamagawa Stepper Motors

2026-04-06 04:46:24 · · #1

A stepper motor is an actuator that converts electrical pulse signals into angular or linear displacement. Under non-overload conditions, the motor's speed and stopping position depend only on the frequency and number of pulse signals, and are not affected by load changes. That is, applying a pulse signal to the motor will cause it to rotate through one step angle.

Stepper motors cannot be used under normal conditions like ordinary DC or AC motors. They must be controlled by a system consisting of pulse signals, power drive circuits, etc. to be used.

Advantages of stepper motors

1. Capable of starting and stopping, and rotating forward and backward;

2. The rotation angle is directly proportional to the number of input pulses;

3. The rotational speed is directly proportional to the input pulse frequency;

4. Maintains torque automatic start even without excitation;

5. High torque, high-speed response, and lightweight;

6. Microstep driven, high precision and low price;

7. Unlike brushed DC motors, it does not experience wear and tear, making maintenance easier.
