In today's rapidly developing e-commerce era, warehouses are indispensable for e-commerce companies. Companies like Alibaba, which own large warehouses, also use AGV intelligent warehousing robots . But what are the working and navigation principles of these robots?
Let me share with you the principles, advantages, and disadvantages of electromagnetic navigation and magnetic tape navigation:
1. Electromagnetic navigation
Electromagnetic navigation is one of the more traditional navigation methods and is still used in many systems today. It involves embedding metal wires along the AGV's travel path and loading a guiding frequency onto the metal wires. The AGV then navigates by identifying the guiding frequency.
Electromagnetic navigation has the advantages of concealed guidance lines, making it less prone to contamination and damage; a simple and reliable guidance principle; ease of control and communication; no interference with sound and light; and significantly lower investment costs compared to laser navigation. (What is laser navigation?)
The disadvantages of electromagnetic navigation are that changing or expanding the route is relatively troublesome, and laying the guide line is relatively difficult.
2. Magnetic tape navigation
The principles of magnetic tape navigation and electromagnetic navigation are quite similar. The difference lies in the use of magnetic tape on the road surface instead of burying metal wires underground, and guidance is achieved by sensing signals through the magnetic tape.
The advantages of magnetic tape navigation are that AGV positioning is more accurate, magnetic tape navigation is more flexible, it is easier to change or expand the path, the laying of magnetic tape is relatively simple, the guidance principle is simple and reliable, it is easy to control and communicate, it does not interfere with sound and light, and the investment cost is much lower than that of laser navigation.
The disadvantages of magnetic tape navigation are higher maintenance costs and the need to replace severely damaged tapes in a timely manner. However, tape replacement is simple and convenient, and the cost is relatively low.
