The generation of coordinate displacement error in stepper motor series wire EDM

The backlash of the stepper motor series wire EDM mechanical transmission system has become an important indicator of the overall machine accuracy. The backlash mainly comes from the following five aspects.

1. Gear backlash, mainly refers to the transmission gears between the stepper motor and the lead screw.

2. The clearance of connecting keys, especially the large gear on the lead screw, even a tiny gap can have a significant impact on backlash. The impact of motor shaft key clearance not only includes backlash but also noise.

3. The clearance between the lead screw and the lead nut: After leaving the factory, the axial transmission clearance of the lead screw pair is usually below 0.003 mm. However, this clearance is not guaranteed for products of poor quality.

4. Lead screw bearing clearance. This clearance is eliminated by axial adjustment of the inner and outer rings of the bearing. However, if the bearing is of poor quality, it will be extremely difficult to rotate after the clearance is eliminated. Once the rotation becomes smooth, the clearance will reappear. Therefore, the bearing in this area cannot be neglected.

5. Poor overall rigidity in torque transmission causes flexural deformation in weak parts, making the motion sluggish and delayed, which is also manifested in the form of gaps.
