Foreword

Vertical shaft giant energy wind turbine (hereinafter referred to as "giant energy unit") is a new type of large and extra-large wind power equipment with a patented innovative technology. It has formed an outstanding comprehensive coordination advantage in achieving a better communication between the structure and form of large wind power equipment and the natural wind conditions, forming the performance requirements of "maximum wind capture, highest power conversion, and best adaptability to changes". This article aims to provide a more systematic introduction and analysis from the perspective of how giant energy units form and meet the "three best capabilities" required by large wind power equipment, in order to satisfy readers' desire for a more comprehensive and clear understanding and hopefully generate a strong resonance.

How do giant power units achieve the ability to "capture wind to the maximum extent"?

1. Advantages of using vertical shaft wind turbine foundations in large-scale wind power projects

Using the Φ-shaped vertical shaft turbine as the overall foundation for large-scale wind power projects offers several unique advantages: (i) Vertical shaft turbines utilize wind power to directly drive the blades, resulting in more direct, efficient, and stable power output. (ii) The tower height is fully utilized; by extending the tower height and blade width, the wind-catch area can be proportionally expanded. (iii) The rotational power generated by the rotor can be directly transmitted to the ground via the longitudinal drive shaft, resulting in advantages due to the reduced installation location of the giant generator system (including easier installation and maintenance, reduced impact from climate changes, and the rotor not needing to carry the generator equipment and power cables during wind operation). Therefore, its adoption is highly recommended. However, the fatal flaw hindering the application of current vertical shaft turbines in large-scale wind power construction is the difficulty in achieving massive power output design and the lack of effective operational control methods. 2. How are mega-power units able to generate massive power output?

All vertical shaft wind turbines and rotors employ a power output method that ensures the output force generated by the wind turbine plate on the windward side is greater than the resistance on the reverse side. The most familiar example is the vertical wind turbine commonly used in weather stations, which has several spoon-shaped "wind turbine plates" distributed around the vertical shaft. Although both the opening and back of the spoon face the wind, the opening side effectively counteracts the wind resistance from the back side, causing the turbine to rotate consistently along the opening direction. However, since both the windward and reverse sides have roughly equal wind-catching areas, the output difference is not significant, making it difficult to operate with large loads. This is the fundamental reason why current vertical shaft wind turbines are difficult to design for high-capacity power output.
