Beckhoff's latest AMP8000 distributed servo drive system opens up new possibilities for modular machine technology. The space-saving AMP8000 integrates servo drives directly into the servo motors in a compact design. Because the power electronics are directly integrated into the machine, only one coupling module is needed in the control cabinet, and multiple servo drives can be powered by a single distributed module and a single cable. This significantly saves on cost, space, and materials, and reduces installation workload.
The use of the AMP8000 allows for the installation of only a single coupler module within the control cabinet, significantly reducing the installation space requirements for drive products. Furthermore, utilizing EtherCATP technology, which enables EtherCAT signal transmission and power supply using only a single cable, this coupler module, employing the IP67-rated AMP8805 distributed module, can control up to five AMP8000 servo drives. Because the entire AMP8000 system is cascadeable, complex motion systems can be implemented using a very simple topology. Additionally, Beckhoff provides pre-installed cables, greatly simplifying the logistics process and minimizing wiring errors. With fewer and smaller cables connecting motors, the installation workload is significantly reduced.
Optimized design for efficient driver integration
The AMP8000's drive integration solution features a very compact design. Because the power module is conveniently mounted behind the motor shaft, the mounting dimensions of the new distributed servo drive are identical to those of the proven AM8000 standard series servo motors. The only difference in size is that the overall length of the servo motor has been extended by approximately 7 centimeters. For machine manufacturers, this means minimal additional space at the motor end and allows for easy adjustments to the overall motion control scheme without altering existing machine designs.
The AMP8000 distributed servo drive system is available in two flange sizes: F4 and F5. The rated power range for various models is 0.61...1.23kW, and the stall torque range is 2.00...4.8Nm (F4), or the rated power range is 1.02...1.78kW, and the stall torque range is 4.10...9.7Nm (F5). The AMP8000 series integrates STO and SS1 safety functions by default; other safety motion functions are still under development.
