Packaging machinery comes in a wide variety of types and can be classified in many ways. From different perspectives, there are several classifications: by product state (liquid, block, granular packaging machines); by packaging function (inner packaging, outer packaging machines); by packaging industry (food, daily chemical, textile, etc.); by packaging station (single-station, multi-station packaging machines); and by automation level (semi-automatic, fully automatic packaging machines, etc.).
There are many other methods for classifying packaging machinery, each with its own characteristics and applicable scope, but all also have limitations. From an international perspective, a more scientific classification method for packaging machinery is based on its primary function, which captures the essence of the subject. Its basic classification is as follows:
Filling machine
A filling machine is a packaging machine that fills a precise quantity of packaged goods into various containers. Its main types include:
① Volumetric filling machines. These include cup type, tube type, plunger type, level type, screw type, and timed type filling machines.
② Weighing-type filling machines. These include intermittent weighing, continuous weighing, and weighing-centrifugal equal-division filling machines.
③ Counting-type filling machines. This includes single-piece counting and multi-piece counting filling machines.
Sealing machine
Sealing machines are machines used to seal containers filled with packaging materials. Their main types include:
① Sealing machines for non-sealing materials. Including hot-press, cold-press, fusion welding, insertion, and folding sealing machines.
② Sealing machines with sealing materials. These include screw-on, roll-on, edge-pressing, and compression sealing machines.
③ Sealing machines with auxiliary sealing materials. These include tape-type, adhesive-type, stapling-type, ligating-type, and sewing-type sealing machines.
Wrapping machine
A wrapping machine is a packaging machine that uses flexible packaging materials to wrap items completely or partially. Its main types include:
① Full-wrap wrapping machine. This includes twist-type, covering-type, close-fitting-type, and seam-type wrapping machines.
② Semi-wrapping machines. These include folding, shrinking, stretching, and wrapping machines.
Multifunctional
These types of packaging machines have two or more functions. Their main types include:
① Filling and sealing machine. It has both filling and sealing functions.
② Molding, filling, and sealing machine. It has three functions: molding, filling, and sealing. Molding types include bag molding, bottle molding, box molding, blister molding, and melt molding.
③Shaping, filling and sealing machine. It has shaping, filling and sealing functions.
④ Double-sided box sealing machine. It can seal both the top and bottom sides simultaneously. Boxes can be placed sideways or upright during sealing.
Category 1
① Type I carton sealing machine. It seals the seam between the top and bottom flaps of the carton with a strip of tape. This sealing method is simple to operate, but the sealing effect is relatively poor.
② H-type box sealing machine. It's based on the I-type sealing machine, adding two extra strips of tape to both ends of the I-type sealing tape, forming an H shape, hence the name H-type. It increases the strength and sealing performance of the box, but is more expensive.
Category 2
① General-purpose carton sealing machine. It allows for adjustments to certain mechanisms to change the machine's dimensions, accommodating cartons of various sizes and specifications. It has a wide range of applications and is a commonly used carton sealing machine.
② Specialized carton sealing machine. It can only seal cartons of a certain size and specifications, and it is fast and suitable for large-volume carton sealing operations.
③ Random-type box sealing machine. Within a specified size range, the relevant mechanisms can automatically change to adapt to the sealing needs of boxes of different sizes, making it a highly automated box sealing machine.
