Pilz's newly introduced PITatepactive electrically activated emergency stop device is ideal for such applications, displaying activation or deactivation via an indicator light. When activated, it features a red mushroom head against a yellow background; when deactivated, it is entirely black, making it difficult to identify. The new EN ISO 13850 standard for emergency stop buttons and functions allows for color-changing illumination of active emergency stop devices to avoid confusion between activated and deactivated devices. This eliminates the need for coverings on inactive machine modules, fundamentally solving the problem of misuse.
In PITestopactive, the contact circuits used to cut off dangerous actions reach a safety level of up to PLe, while the LED safety modules used for activation and identification reach a safety level of up to PLD. When in normal active mode, once the emergency stop button is pressed, a yellow background light flashes, helping operators or other personnel who need to reset the emergency stop device to quickly identify and accurately locate it, eliminating the need to locate it through the workstation control panel.
In addition, mobile devices or mobile workstations are also application scenarios where the emergency stop module can be activated.
