Linear module installation method and precautions

Linear modules , also known as linear slides, linear units, or electric slides, are industry terms for single automated motion modules. Currently, common linear modules on the market include synchronous belt linear modules and ball screw linear modules, both of which are widely used in automated equipment. Today, we'll discuss how to install linear modules and what precautions to take during installation.

I. Preparations before installing the linear module

1. Preparation of linear module data: This includes general assembly drawings, component assembly drawings, non-standard customized parts drawings, bill of materials, etc. From start to finish, it is essential to ensure the completeness and neatness of the drawings and the completeness of the process information records.

2. Site preparation: The placement of linear module parts and the assembly of components must be carried out in the designated work area. The products must be placed in a clean and well-planned area until the completion of the entire order. All work areas must be kept neat, standardized and orderly.

3. Material preparation: Before the operation, the assembly materials specified in the linear module assembly process must be in place on time. If some non-critical materials are not in place on time, the operation sequence can be changed according to the actual situation, and relevant personnel should follow up and urge the return of the missing materials to the factory.

4. Skills preparation: Before assembly, operators should understand the mechanical structure of the product and related assembly points, and be familiar with the technical requirements and processes.

II. Linear Module Installation Method

1. First, remove burrs, dirt, and surface scratches from the edges and corners of the straight model material mounting surface.

2. Gently place the linear guide on the profile guide surface and use the fixing screws to gently fit the linear guide into the mounting surface.

3. Starting from the center and working outwards, slightly tighten the positioning screws of the linear guide rail. This ensures the rail is slightly flush with the mounting surface. Tightening from the middle of the linear guide rail towards both ends will result in more stable accuracy.

4. Install the ball screw and support. Tighten it slightly using the same method first.

5. Using a torque wrench, select the appropriate tightening torque according to the platform material and slowly tighten the slide rail positioning screws.

6. Gently place the movable slider onto the slider of the guide rail and lead screw.

7. Tighten the side clamping screws on the moving platform. After installation and positioning, tighten and fix them in the following order.

III. Precautions for installing linear modules

1. During installation, pay attention to the even distribution of force on the workbench, otherwise deformation may easily occur.

2. Before starting work, run the workbench at low speed to check for collisions or other issues during the work stroke, and then proceed with normal operation.

3. Correction work must not be continued during the work process.

4. The center of gravity of the workpiece should be less than one-quarter of the distance from the worktable.

5. The working stroke of the linear slide module should be greater than one-third of the total stroke. The larger the stroke, the slower the speed should be to ensure the accuracy requirements during operation.

The above is an introduction to the installation method of linear modules and the points to note during the installation process!
