Electric motor model numbers are codes used to facilitate business communication between departments involved in use, design, and manufacturing, and to simplify descriptions of product names, specifications, and types in technical documents. Below is an introduction to the meaning of electric motor model numbers.

I. Composition and Meaning of Electric Motor Models

It consists of four sections in sequence: motor type code, motor characteristic code, design serial number, and excitation method code.

1. The type code is a set of Chinese Pinyin letters used to represent the various types of motors.

for example:

Asynchronous motor Y synchronous motor T

Synchronous generator TF DC motor Z

DC generator ZF

2. The characteristic code is used to characterize the performance, structure or application of the motor, and is also represented by Chinese Pinyin letters.

for example:

Explosion-proof type is represented by B, YB is used for axial flow fans, and YT is used for YB.

Electromagnetic braking type YEJ variable frequency speed control type YVP

YZD type multi-speed YD crane, etc.

3. The design serial number refers to the design sequence of the motor product, represented by Arabic numerals. No design serial number is marked for the first design; for products derived from a series, the serial number is marked according to the design sequence.

For example: Y2YB2

4. The excitation mode codes are represented by letters: S represents the third harmonic, J represents the thyristor, and X represents phase compound excitation.

For example: Y2--160M1–8

Y: Model number, indicating an asynchronous motor;

2: Design serial number, "2" indicates a product with an improved design based on the initial design;

160: Center height, which is the height from the center of the shaft to the plane of the machine base;

M1: Base length specification. M stands for medium. The footnote "2" indicates the second specification of the M-type core, and the "2" type core is longer than the "1" type core.

8: Number of poles. "8" refers to an 8-pole motor.

For example: Y630—10/1180

Y represents an asynchronous motor;

630 indicates a power rating of 630KW;

10 poles, stator core outer diameter 1180MM.

II. Specification Code

It is mainly expressed by center height, frame length, core length, and number of poles.

1. Center height refers to the height from the motor shaft center to the bottom corner of the motor base; based on the different center heights, motors can be divided into four types: large, medium, small, and micro.

Motors with a height of 45mm to 71mm are classified as miniature motors.

Motors with a height of 80mm to 315mm are classified as small electric motors.

Motors with a height of 355mm to 630mm are classified as medium-sized motors.

Motors with a height of 630mm or more are considered large motors.

2. The length of the frame is indicated by internationally recognized letters:

S—Short frame

M—Middle frame

L—Long fuselage

3. The length of the iron core is represented by Arabic numerals 1, 2, 3, 4... from longest to shortest.

4. The number of poles is divided into 2 poles, 4 poles, 6 poles, 8 poles, etc.

III. Special Environment Codes

Special environment code:

"Gao" was originally used in G.

Ship (“sea”) uses H

Outdoor use W

F for chemical corrosion protection

Tropical T

TH for humid tropical regions

TA for dry tropical regions

IV. Supplementary Codes

This applies only to motors with additional requirements. For example, the meanings of the codes for the motor with product model YB2-132S-4H are as follows:

Y: Product type code, indicating an asynchronous motor;

B: Product feature code, indicating explosion-proof type;

2: Product design serial number, indicating the second design;

132: Motor center height, indicating that the distance from the shaft center to the ground is 132 millimeters;

S: Motor frame length, indicating the short frame;

4: Pole number, indicating a 4-pole motor;

H: Special environment code, indicating marine motor.

With the detailed introduction of motor models above, you should now be able to identify the type, characteristics, design serial number, specifications, and environment in which the motor is used simply by looking at the product model number.
