Flyback transformers come in two forms: CCM (Continuous On-Mode) and DCM (Discontinuous On-Mode). We will introduce the DCM mode here.
The idea behind DCM flyback is to bring the SEC (secondary) current back to zero before the next on-time of the PRI (primary) current loop. Typically, DCM flyback is designed between CCM and DCM.
