A brief analysis of the differences between FFC connectors and FPC connectors

In the connector industry, FFC connectors and FPC connectors are often confused. Although both are flexible cable connectors, there are still some differences between them. FFC stands for Flexible Flat Cable connector, while FPC stands for Flexible Printed Circuit. In terms of manufacturing, the way their circuits are formed differs.

FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) is a flexible circuit board with different single-sided, double-sided, and multi-layer structures, processed by chemical etching using FCCL (Flexible Copper Clad Laminate). FFC (Flexible Fiber Optic Circuit) uses two layers of insulating foil with a flat copper foil sandwiched in between, resulting in a simpler but thicker product. Strictly speaking, FFC is much cheaper, and considering production costs, more companies prefer FFC designs.

Related information: FFC connectors are a new type of data cable made of PET insulating material and extremely thin tin-plated flat copper wire, pressed together by high-tech automated production line. They are flexible, can be bent and folded at will, thin, small in size, easy to connect, easy to disassemble, and easy to solve electromagnetic shielding (EMI).
