What are the error types of spoke-type load cells?

2026-04-06 06:25:26 · · #1

A spoke-type load cell is essentially a device that converts a mass signal into a measurable electrical signal output. Errors exist in all precision instruments; the only difference is the magnitude. So, what types of errors occur in load cells during our use?

1. Errors in the use of spoke-type load cells are caused by operators, which means there are many reasons for them. For example, errors can occur due to different temperatures, including incorrect probe placement or improper insulation between the probe and the measurement point. Other application errors include errors that occur during the purification process of air or other gases. Application errors also involve incorrect placement of the transmitter, so positive or negative pressure will affect the correct reading.

2. Characteristic errors are inherent to the equipment itself. They are the difference between the equipment's recognized transport function characteristics and its actual characteristics. Such errors include DC drift values, inaccuracies in ramps, or nonlinearities of ramps.

3. Dynamic errors: Many sensor characteristics and calibrations are applicable to static conditions, which means that the input parameters used are static or similar to static. Many sensors have strong damping, so they do not respond quickly to changes in input parameters. For example, a thermistor requires several seconds to respond to a step change in temperature.

4. A thermistor does not immediately jump to a new impedance or undergo a sudden change. Instead, it gradually changes to the new value. Therefore, if a load cell with a delayed response characteristic responds to a rapid change in temperature, the output waveform will be distorted because it contains dynamic errors. Factors causing dynamic errors include response time, amplitude distortion, and phase distortion.

5. Insertion error is an error that occurs when a sensor is inserted into the system, causing a change in the measurement parameters. This problem usually occurs in electronic measurements, but similar problems can also occur in other measurement methods. For example, when a voltmeter measures voltage in a circuit, it will definitely have an inherent impedance that is much larger than the circuit impedance, or there may be a circuit load. In this case, the reading will have a large error. The reason for this type of error is that a transmitter that is too large for the system is used; or the dynamic characteristics of the system are too slow; or the system has self-heating and excessive heat energy.

6. Environmental errors arise from the environment in which the sensor is used. Factors affecting load cells include temperature, swaying, vibration, altitude, chemical evaporation, or other factors. These factors often affect the characteristics of the sensor, so in practical applications, these factors are always categorized and grouped together.

Finally, it is hoped that my country's weighing sensor industry will implement a "quality competition strategy" and an "innovation competition strategy" for the 21st century, taking manufacturing technology and processes as breakthroughs to rapidly improve the overall quality level and reputation of my country's weighing sensors, integrate into the international market as soon as possible, and participate in international competition.
